At Slothead Racing we took care of this by hiring a cute, but dumb, receptionist. During the interview when asked where she was from she replied "I been in the waiting room". When asked what state she grew up in she said "confused", and when someone said they liked her glasses she replied "Yeah, I don't really need 'em but I wears them 'cause they make me looker smarterer and all that".

Kelly thinks Austria is an easier way of spelling Australia, so she told our wife's and partners that was where next race was. No spying eyes on us.

I had the chance to get a qualifying run done last night, each team had a few laps warm up, then a quick check over the car. We did an 8 lap run and recorded the fastest lap

Pole winner Car #12 The Devils Cut FG Falcon with a best lap of 4.199. Congratulations T-County Lug Nuts
P2: Car #6 Dunlop FG Falcon 4.318 Thunda Down Unda
P3: Car #6 Trading Post FG Falcon 4.379 Slothead Racing
P4: Car #8 BOC VE Commodore 4.399 Bandit Racing
P5: Car #51 Supercheap Auto VY Commodore 4.660 Daves Dollies
P6: Car #17 Jim Beam Black FG Falcon 4.699 Catracing
P7: Car #1 Toll HRT VE Commodore 4.740 Oregon Donors

The Trading Post Falcon had a loose wheel which resulted in tyre rub, during warm up laps so into the pits for re-glue, all good now
Jim Beam car needed a new set of braids
Toll car had the rear axle pop out after 3 laps during warm up, so back into pits and glued them back in.

All set for racing tonight

Our crew worked hard to put on a good showing to hopefully "impress" our sponsor (and more importantly Mila K!) - now hopefully we can turn the strong qualifying run into a podium finish!

Hey Mila - if you're reading this just want you to know I have a BIG bag of peanut M&M's in my trailer. Chocolate milk too. Everyone else, please ignore this.

The Trading Post FG Falcon did okay during qualifying even with the wheel issue. With that repaired we're set to go and be a force to contend with. And, the blacked out windows won't trouble us one bit because Slothead Racing has employed twin sisters Luna and Lena as driver and spotter. Luna will be driving and Lena will be spotting. They've developed telepathy and all Lena has to do is think about the track ahead and Luna can envision it. Let's go racing!

Slothead depending on where you finish there may be a challenge involved. I'm not sure telepathy is even legal. :naughty:

Oops. Must admit we didn't think about telepathy being illegal. Okay, I'll ask Luna to wear an aluminum foil hat under her helmet to keep the telepathy waves out and I'll let Lena take a nap in our trailer during the race.

Race 1 Report and results
Grid positions: 1: 12 Dean Fiore Devils Cut Falcon (T County Lug Nuts), 2: 6S Steven Richards Dunlop Falcon ( Thunda Down Unda)
3: 6W Will Davidson Trading Post Falcon (Slothead Racing), 4: 8 Jason Bright BOC Commodore ( Bandit Racing), 5: 51 Greg Murphy Supercheap Commodore (Daves Dollies), 6: 17 Steven Johnson Jim Beam Black Falcon ( Cat Racing), 7: 1 James Courtney Toll HRT Commodore ( Kidvoltage)

Patchy start, but the pole sitter blasts away from the pack, Cars 1, 6S and 6W are a touch slow, while car 8 gets away nicely and sneaks into P2 at the end of lap 1. Cars 6S and 6W are separated by .1sec in 3rd and 4th closely followed by car 1 and 17. Car 51 has a shocker and spins on turns 3 and 6 on lap 1, sadly the drama continues for Car 51 during the early laps pushing hard to make up time leads to more spins, but finally gets under control and settles into some sort of rhythm.
12 laps in and we have Car 12 out in front with a comfy 2 sec lead, lapping very quickly and consistent. Cars 8 and 6 S are battling for the other podium positions separated by only .1 of a sec. Car 1 is up to 4th place after 6W spun on lap 7in turn 4, also getting passed by car 17 and dropping 6W to 6th place. The handling woes continued for car 51, spinning once again in turn 6 and loosing more ground on the pack
Car 8 had a spin on lap 16, dropping it to 3rd behind 6S, but 6S spun on turn 3 lap 21 to return the favour and car 8 sneaks back into P2.
6W got past car 17 and eventually passed car 1 on lap 30 meanwhile up the front Car 12 was happy setting a great pace out front with no issues. :auto-driving: :auto-driving:

:auto-checkeredflag: :auto-checkeredflag: at the finish and Car 12 raced away for an easy win over car 8 in second, 6S held onto 3rd place
6W, 1, 17 and poor 51 languishing at the back after a few too many spins!

full results of R1
1: T County Lug Nuts #12, 2:29:761, average lap 4.278 Best 4.140
2: Bandit Racing #8, 2:36:469, average lap 4.470 best 4.264

Re: SIP 2019 Australia round

Postby Pepsi62 » Wed May 01, 2019 6:37 pm

Some serious work took place in the pits prior to race 2.
The Supercheap crew threw some ideas at the 51 and made plenty of changes to try and correct the random de slots, braid adjustment, a little extra front end weight and a tyre sand, a few practise laps showed some improvement, fingers crossed, minor adjustments to cars 1, 17 and 6W. All tyres cleaned and we are ready to race! Grid positions same as Race 1.

Green lights and we are under way, 6S gets away best to grab an early lead from car1, also with a brilliant start from last spot on the grid, car 12 in 3rd, closely followed by 8, 17, 6W and 51

Lap12 and after putting in some quick early laps Car 12 has shot to the lead after getting passed Car 1 on lap 4, the job made a bit easier by Car 6S spinning on lap 6 and dropping to the rear of the field, Car 8 had worked it's way to 2nd followed by car 1 clinging to 3rd place. 6W held 4th just in front of car 17 and car 51 holding steady in P6 with no spins and consistent lap times in the 4.7 range.
Lap 18 and Car 1 has a spin in turn 4 as does 51 in turn 3( oh no not again!). 6S is churning out very consistent and fast laps and working it's way through the field. The leader is comfortably lapping quickly and maintains a good gap.
51 spins again on lap 21 this time in turn 4. The leader in car 12 makes a mistake and has a spin at turn 3 on lap 29, but the gap is sufficient and he maintains the lead, then a lap later 2nd placed car 8 spins in turn 4 giving an opportunity to 6S to catch him and its now a battle for P2! Cars 8 and 6S race hard for the last 5 laps pretty much matching lap times, with 6S equalling his fastest lap time of 4.280 on lap 31.
As the checkered flag drops :auto-checkeredflag: it's car 12 once again with a comfy margin of victory. A photo finish is required to seperate cars 8 and 6S for 2nd place with a .081 sec margin !!! that's close. 4th went 6W in a pretty uneventful and even drive, car 1 just held out car 17 and car 51 once again at the back, but a much improved effort

final positions Race 2
1: T County Lug Nuts #12, 2:31:749, ave 4.335, Best 4.179
2: Bandit Racing #8, 2:36:347, ave 4.467, Best 4.239
3: Thunda Down Unda #6S, 2:36:428, ave 4.469, Best 4.280
4: Slothead Racing #6W, 2:40:751, ave 4.592, Best 4.317
5: Kidvoltage #1, 2:42:713, ave 4.648, Best 4.400
6: Cat Racing #17, 2:43:289, ave 4.665, Best 4.519
7: Daves Dollies #51, 2:50:686, ave 4.876, Best 4.580

Well done to those on the podium once again

The Australian round is completed, I think Tusco will update the points??????
I had fun running the cars and sorting out the results, hope everyone has had fun, next round awaits

Thanks for the great work running the race and excellent recap. Congrats to the winning team, TC lug nuts and to podium finishers Bandit Racing and Thunda Down Unda. Slothead Racing is satisfied with two 4th place finishes and the fact no appeals will be filed claiming we used illegal methods.

When the points are updated I think things will still be close and we'll still be contenders. If there's a tie for first at the end of the series we propose wins be the first tie breaker followed by finishing position in the last race.

I think the next race will be back at Shelby-Hendrix Speedway and might be with Trans Am cars - Scalextric Javelins verses Pioneer Mustangs. More soon.
