I'm out. The rules were re-written while I was struggling with my car and I didn't notice. The original rules we agreed to said, "Try to limit the width to 60MM at the widest." The front wheel pants on mine scale out to 62mm, and that's the way I built it after many tries. Actually, I just measured, and its 63.4mm because there's a slight flare at the bottom edge of one of them. This was a huge bother and now I finally have it ready to sand and paint, I'm not starting over. I'm done. I'll finish up and take pictures, but I'm out of the proxy race.

Well... When I noticed the change from "try to limit to 60mm" to "limited to 60mm", I thought I was just out of it, because like I say, this thing is a real, authentic, genuine PIA, and there was no way I was going to redo it, once I had the bugger done. The number of changes in this car from 1950 to 1963 (the body shell I started with), is amazing. I've been grinding off details and carving new ones for days and days. My loose parts box has been searched so many times on this one, I wonder if I need to start buying up people's junk piles again to harvest more parts for the box.

All I can say is thanks, guys. Its not like I have any chance of winning, but this goofy looking thing won Le Mans in '51 and '52, and I just wanted to celebrate it a little. I did some more work on it today, and it has primer on it now. Looks a lot better than it did this morning!

Getting close to track ready. Glass and interior and then find a wood track for a little tuning and she's in the mail. Resin body, MRRC chassis modified a bit, MT-1, Slot it drive train, wheels, etc. It should make it around the track, ha!

Never saw that one before. Did you see how much more snug the front covers are? That's barely bulged out at all. It would have been soooo much easier to build!

It looks candy apple red, but here's what I used. A couple of coats of cheap grey primer. One coat of the Krylon Metallic, dry overnight, taped off the stripes, and then one good coat of the Red. Although the red (?) says for metals it turned out pretty cool. Steve (and those are some big a$$ cans o paint, lol.)

I finally got the paint on this weekend, and I'll have pictures later today when the decals are in place. The chassis is ready, I just have to figure out a mounting for it.

I just had a disaster. I dropped the body on the concrete floor of my shop and parts broke off all over. Looking for it, I stepped on one of them. I'm going to have lunch and calm down, but I will do everything I can to get it done (redone).

It could be worse, because the hard to fabricate parts held on like they were made of spring steel. I just have to replace the way I did the front valance and three lights. Those lights aren't hard to do, but it take time, which I don't have any of at this point. Also, one of the two body mounts is broken and that has to be redone. Its too depressing to write about. After I eat some lunch, I'll be at it all night, I'm sure.
