Something to watch out for- The front axle wasn't spinning freely on mine, so I swapped the lead wires as Harry did in the review. Still, it just wasn't turning enough. Then I noticed that the sprung suspension was pushing the axle down on to the reinforcements that extend behind the guide. The axle was contacting in the two places that I point to in this photo:

Here you can clearly make out the axle resting on these reinforcements:

A little sanding, and the axle now spins as it should. If you have an emery board or some sanding sticks handy, I suggest taking a look at this point in your own Lancias.

If you are a fan of road rally then there is no excuse to not hunt down this car for purchase. The Lancia Stratos is the most important car in the history of rally. The Stratos was the first car to be designed solely as a rally car. Prior to this rally cars were road cars that had been converted to rally trim. The Stratos was equipped with the left-over motors from the Ferrari Dino's - 190hp V6. The Lancia Stratos driven by Sandro Munari was a FORCE! Stratos won the world championship in 1974, 75 and 76 only to be removed from the field by FIAT in favor of the 131.

I have all of the major brands with cars from Team Slot, SCX, Altaya (SCX) and now Ninco. The Ninco is by far the best car out of the box. Not even close. I have a pair of the Pirelli's and have the Alitalia on order.

The Stratos is kind of a big deal, and one of the coolest of all the Italian wedges of the 60s and 70s. It's mysterious how it's been pretty much ignored by the major slot car makers in the last 10 years (until now). TeamSlot carried the torch as best they could, and really did a decent job, but it looks like the Ninco car is just better all around.

Unlike the Pirelli version that Harry had for the review, it would seem that the Alitalia livery is not protected with a clear coat. After about thirty minutes of laps with mine, and several tails-out meetings with a Sport guard rail, the "Lancia" on the back of my car now closely resembles the font of a heavy metal album cover. This is a major shame, as the back of car is my favorite part. It just looks cool driving away. Well, now mine bears some road rash. :cry: Be warned to protect your markings before hitting the track.

I agree 100%. The NC-9 motor is a great pick for these series of cars.
