This weekend I've lost my brother and slot car nut Tom Bryner(ovalracer63). He had a stroke and the doctors could not remove the clot from his brain. He would have been 53 years of age tomorrow, way to young to go.
Tom was not only the founder of our club, Pa Scale Auto Racing, but the founder of PHORC (Pennsylvania HO Racing Club) way back in the 80's. He was a craftsman from the word go. He built some of the finest 1/32 and 1/24 sprint cars that money could buy. He also made top notch laminated paper late model and modified bodies that he had supplied to folks all over the country, including many resellers. Over the past 6 or 7 years he and I had built numerous routed tracks. Always with me being in awe of how he knew what the hell he was doing, especially when it came to wiring. There will never be anyone else like my big brother and my life will never be the same. The slot community will miss the likes of Tom, who always had time for everyone and anyone.
For me, I likely won't ever pick up a controller again, it'll just hurt too much. Racing just wouldn't be the same without him standing beside me yelling "nice move spanky". I know he'll be waiting to race with me again someday and I can't wait. RIP Tom.
