I traded a chassis for one of Tom's laminated bodies several years ago and he gave me his phone number and said to give him a call. When I did we talked about racing and slot cars for over an hour. He loved the hobby and was a good guy.

When my dad, who built me my first track in our basement back in the 60's, died 5 years ago I started my 'Endless Summer Racing Series - where all good things that ever were, still are'. Hobbies give us a place to honor the past and have it race door handle to door handle with the present. Think of all the tracks and clubs where Dale Earnhardt and Davey Allison are still winning races. Tom's car, the 27J, is a top runner in it's class and I'll be turning a bunch of hot laps with it today with a smile of remembrance.

Kelly, when you are able to I think Tom would love for you to run many thousand more laps, for both of you.

As another one that lost a brother too early (my "little" brother passed at 50 in 06) it is never easy to get through, but you will and then you'll remember the good things and give a private smile. So pick up that controller and run one of "his" cars and I bet it will help you through. Many of us aren't as fortunate to have such a tangible link to a loved one; take solace in it.

While I did not pesonally know Tom Bryner, as a fellow slot car racer, he was part of the brotherhood.

I'm sorry when bad news such as this is reported. My thoughts and prayers are with his close friends and family.

I didn't know your brother, but read many of his posts on HRW. Loss of a loved one is very hard. I know from personal experience in the last couple of months. It does get better with the passing of time, but you never forget them. I to think he would want you to continue racing with your fellow racers in the club. My condolences for you and your family at this time. :)

I would like to thank everyone for the kind words of support. Burying Tom on Thursday was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Happily he is only a short ten minute drive from me so I will be visiting him often. It was wonderful to see our slot racing friends come to the viewing and funeral. One racer who recently moved away even made the three hour journey to say his farewells. That meant so much to me and I know Tom was smiling too.

As far as racing again, who knows. Maybe in the future. Right now I look at my slot cars, especially my sprint cars for which Tom was the crafstman, and see only sadness. So now the healing begins. My life will never be the same without him but I have so many great memories that I'll never forget.

Again, thank you all and God Bless.
