Warmups will begin at 6PM EST this evening. We anticipate going green with the first group at 6:15PM. The cars will be run in batches of 5. That gives each driver a one heat break as we rotate through the lanes. We have two backup drivers ready as well.
The Drivers
Steve Smith - Steve has raced slot cars for over 20 years, with multiple championships at 4 tracks. Most recently, Steve has won two Bomber championships at Smith Scale Speedway.
Larry Swift - Larry has raced competitively for 15 years, with too many championships to list here. Larry won the ARCA championship in 2012 at our track, and is a consistent top 3 driver in all of our plastic chassis divisions, with wins in all.
Jeremy Blood - Jeremy has only raced for a few years, but already has several championships in a variety of divisions. Jeremy has multiple wins in plastic chassis cars.
Jim Rhodes - A local short track racer, Jim is new to slot racing. Despite that, Jim recently won our ProStock division, and won a Bomber championship last year.
Megan Blood - Megan is relatively new to slot racing, but still won our 2012 Street Car division. These cars are similar in configuration to the Zipper cars.
Ralph Falanga - Ralph has raced for decades, and has been an up and comer on our oval. Ralph has a lot of experience with plastic chassis cars.
Adele Smith - Adele is the only driver at our track to ever win a race with a stock plastic vintage NASCAR. She piloted a 67 Fairlane (Andretti livery) to a win in our old Street Stock division. Since then, Adele has had multiple wins in our Street division. Adele will be helping with race direction, media, and available to sub for drivers as necessary.
Gawain Smith - This ten year old routinely beats many of the adult drivers and has several wins in two divisions. In the second segment of this year, Gawain placed in the top 4 in points in each of the three divisions that he raced in.
Our Race Director:
Jessica Ross has been running races here for over three years. Having experience at the helm makes the races smoother, and protects the integrity of the results.
