Great offer and looking forward to seeing the final product. I'm a big fan of HRW too and love the community.

This has been said before, and I agree a better way to do this would be a raffle. Set donation at $10 or so a chance and try as many times as you want. With each donation you get to pick a number between 1 and 999, and closest guess wins. Winning number comes from last 3 digits of the published attendance at a major sports event, or same digits from closing value of the stock market. Do a coin flip in case of a tie.

I'd take two, but I'm not telling you my numbers yet.

I do like the raffle idea. That way no one is out more than the donation amount and everyone has a shot - good idea Slothead!

For the winning raffle number - I know what one of the local clubs here does is base it on the Ohio "Pick 3" number and sets up the number of tickets based on the value of the item.
In other words - if the they are shooting for $1000 total, each number is worth $1 (if it is $100 then each would be $.10/each) and they go until they have all 1000 numbers sold. Once the numbers are all sold and a list is published - they advise the date of the drawing that is used to determine a winner, typically a week out - like say next wednesday's drawing as an example. If the pick three number is 345 then whoever had the number on the list is the winner. It keeps it simple and above any question as to favoritism, etc.
Figured that format might work pretty easily here as well as I think the raffle idea would be a nice way to allow everyone to participate in a great cause! :D

My raffle comments were only intended to promote thinking about ways to get more of us involved in creative ways to support HRW going forward. Thanks to ShotgunDave and Harry for making this happen now.

I know it's easy to make suggestions and wait for others to carry them out, so if we ever do a raffle I'll volunteer to help maintain the spreadsheet and then pass it on to someone else to do the final selection. If I didn't trust you guys I wouldn't be involved at all.
