Thanks, for the comments.

The lump in front of the motor is a metal weight of some kind, but I don't think it is lead. It is sold for use with Pinewood Derby cars.

There's a whole month left, Diff.

I was looking over the collection of bits and pieces today, and it looks like I have collected enough bits to make 4 cars for this. I don't think that will happen, but I really want to get 2 done, a Clubman and a Mini coupe. I'm hoping to build a front-wheel drive chassis for each. Doesn't seem like they would look right in the turns with rear wheel drive. Those videos got my brain workin' overtime.

Started making progress on my Mini today! :D

Removed the windows, grill and molding lines and then started gathering parts...

I am trying to use items that I had "on hand" as much as possible for this build - as it helps keep one thinking about "options". :)
The wheels/tires are from a Carrera Go! stock car - as is the crown gear that is shown - but not sure I am going to be able to use the gear if I go with true 3/32 axles (plus it is a bit "steeper" than what is probably ideal at 32 tooth, if my count was correct). The guide is a newer style Scalextric guide - but may swap that out for a conventional depending on how the tongue area shapes up. For the main body of the chassis, I am going to try to create a bathtub style frame using a cut off section from a galvanized 2x4 sheet metal framing stud. Not sure how well that is going to work, but if all goes well, it will be able to stand many a tumble without getting twisted up. The added bonus is, it looks as though the width is pretty close to what I was hoping for.

Hope to be roughing in the chassis tomorrow... :)

Bibbster - Don't feel bad! I didn't make any further progress on my build after even posting about it! (Darn accumulation of falling leaves!)

I was able to make a little more progress on mine last night. Got the motor, wiring, pinion and gearing done. Decided to change out the wheels to CB Design 15x8 stock car wheels. Just need to finish up the body details and interior and it should be ready to go. I hope..

Looks like a lot of speed and very little brakeing. I alll ways loved them wheels. I like a angle motor to the centar the pinon. I found the interior and roll bar the hard thing to make. Your car is looking great.

Looks good!

Cornwall thinks of itself as a Celtic country separate from England, and it has a flag with a white cross on a black background. Don't know of a flag with a white diagonal cross on black, though :D

That's going to be some mean masking, David.

You won't have it so the Union Jack is upside down ,will you? - although heaven knows it should be these days!

I'm just waiting for the numbers for my Autograss cars to arrive, then I'll get the pick- up in the post to you.

I'm racing to get another entry finished, but I've run out of silicone rubber, after doing the outer part of the mould for the body. I'm promised more for tomorrow, so as soon as I get a body out, I'll let you have a sneak preview.

David.

Dave, I think David is having fun with you. Here's the poop, straight from the UK:

The Union Jack is normally twice as long as it is wide, a ratio of 1:2. In the United Kingdom, land flags are normally a ratio of 3:5; the Union Jack can also be made in this shape, but is 1:2 for most purposes. Flags that have the Union Jack in the canton should always be 1:2 to preserve the square fly area.
The three component crosses that make up the Union Flag are sized as follows:
The red St George's Cross width is 1⁄5 of the flag's height with a 1⁄15 flag height fimbriation
The white diagonal St Andrew's Cross width is 1⁄15 of the flag's height and the broader white diagonal's width is 1⁄10 of the flag's height
The red diagonal St Patrick's Cross width is 1⁄15 of the flag's height and the narrow white diagonal's width is 1⁄30 of the flag's height
Another way of looking at it is that the white diagonal St Andrew's Cross and the red diagonal St Patrick's Cross sit side-by-side along the centre-lines of the diagonals. They each have a width of 1⁄15 of the flag's height with a 1⁄30 flag height fimbriation. The crosses are slightly pinwheeled with St Andrew's Cross leading in the clockwise direction. The centre-lines of the diagonals must meet in the centre (as shown on the diagram). The three crosses retain their thickness whether they are shown with a ratio of 3:5 or 1:2.

How's that for more than you wanted to know?

LOL!
