Another neat Mini chassis.

I rather think brass is the way to go, as it allows you to get some weight low down, which is just what these Minis need.

I find the current Scalextric classic Minis a bit of a disappointment on wood tracks, because with nothing for the magnet to "grip", all you get is a lot of jumpy wheel spinning unless you drive sedately all the time.This rather defeats the whole purpose of the Mini!

I've been waiting for Pendle's to get their Riley Elf kit in, but so far waiting in vain.

Inspired by transam6870's gorgeous special Minis, I thought I'd have a go at modifying an old Scalextric Mini shell.



The "master" is sitting on the silicone mould. The others are the clones.



The odd colours are caused by my not very successful attempts to colour the resin with car body spray paint.The white one at the back that looks as if it's covered in bird-poop shows what happens if you try and use water-based acrylic.

Elves and Hornets do actually look like this when you take all the chrome bits off( I know because I've had two, and you have to take the glittery bits off to deal with the rust!)

The car's a bit rough in all honesty, and wouldn't make a concours shelf queen - but as an autograss racer,or a stock car it might do just fine.

I'll have to go like blue blazes to get one of these in by the 1st of December.

You've got it, David.

I'll send you the dark grey one, as it is about the best.Even so, you'll see a thin area in the bonnet(hood)where there has been an air bubble.This is a common problem,I find.I'd appreciate any advice on how to avoid it.
