P-BOP Rules and Registration-Time to ship your cars

Postby Retro Racer 44 » Wed Oct 01, 2014 12:39 am

Since proxies around here seem to pop up faster than mushrooms in a manure pile, it is time to make this thing official and get it going. So here it is.

P-BOP - Parts-Box Open Proxy

General Rules-

1. This is intended to be a fun proxy.
2. There will be few rules and limited expense. Those rules listed are intended to be guidelines.

Cars-

1. In keeping with the parts box idea, the car must be a pre 1948 1/32 scale model done in either plastic or resin. No clear or blow molded bodies. Cars sold as 1/32 but slightly out of scale will be allowed.
2. It is hoped that cars will be of the hot rod or jalopy styles, as such cars were often built from the parts-box.
3. Maximum width will be 2.5 inches. There is no maximum length. Car should be able to pass under normal height overpass bridges, approx. 3 inches.
4. There are no minimum or maximum weight guidelines.
5. A 3/32 axle should be able to pass under the car, with the exception of a spur gear. This is so no cars drag on the track or rails.
6. Any motor or motor set-up and gears will be allowed.
7. Any wheels are allowed, but tires should be either rubber or urethane, no silicone tires. Tires do not need to be covered by the body.
8. Car should have a driver figure, but does not require window glass. The chassis should not be visible through the windows.
9. All cars will race in the one open class.
10. No traction magnets allowed.

Tracks and Schedule-

1. This proxy will be run on whatever type of tracks are volunteered; oval or road course, wood or plastic.
2. Schedule will be posted once hosts have all volunteered.
3. You can host more than one race if you own or have access to more than one track.
4. You do not have to host a round to join this proxy.
5. You do not have to enter a car to host a round, but it would be more fun if you do.
6. This proxy will begin around the middle of January 2015. Cars should be mailed to Shotgun Dave before January 1st. The end will depend on the number of races volunteered. The last races will be in the greater Vancouver area, and then I will mail the cars and prizes home from here.
7. Hosts will be responsible for getting the cars to the next venue.

Registration-

1. A registration fee of $15 USD for all participants will be used to cover car return costs. Since any participants not hosting do not have to pay to ship the cars, they will pay a $5 shipping surcharge. Any registration fees not spent will be donated to Home Racing World. Participants may enter one or two cars for the $15 registration fee.
2. When particants post their registration, I will PM my Paypal info and Dave's address.
3. Cars should have a number, preferably in three locations. Duplicate numbers are allowed as no two cars will be alike.

Prizes- I will be gathering up a prize bucket of items from the parts boxes. I ask each participant to send along at least one item from yours with the car(s). It can be new or used, such as motors, pods, wheels, etc. I already have a pile of items and will be asking a few suppliers for donations.

Each of the contestants will be asked to judge the cars for a Concours and the winner will receive extra goodies from the bucket.

The champion of the proxy will also receive extra goodies, but all contestants will receive prizes.

I will list the participants and build the race schedule below, so post or PM me when you have decided to join the P-BOP fun.

One Final Rule-

1. See general rule #1.

When you register, please give the car's - Number - Body Make/Year - Chassis Material - Motor and I will list in another post.

Cheers,

Keith

Keith -
I will have two entries - but don't have all of the details worked out yet - but here is what I have so far...

First entry -
Number: Haven't decided (yet)
Body Make / Year: '32 Chevy Pick-up (Lindberg)
Chassis material: brass and wire
Motor: Plafit Fox II

Second entry:
Number: Haven't decided (yet)
Body Make / Year: '40 Ford Custom Convertible (Pyro)
Chassis material: haven't started it yet - but planning on brass and wire
Motor: Not sure yet - will partially depend on what way I go with the chassis...

Looking forward to seeing all the different variants! :D

Will be hosting on the 144' road course at Mark's Model World (can be seen here: http://s76.photobucket.com/user/Burrell ... k.jpg.html )

Calling All P-Boppers!

We are well on the way to the start of the P-BOP. I know there are others who expressed interest who have not yet registered. There may be others out there that have pre 1948 hot rods or jalopies in 1/32 scale who are still wanting to join the fun. Please read the rules above and PM or post you wish to join, and I will add you to the lists.

Cheers,

Keith

We will sponsor this event.

Winner will get a new set of C.B. Design Wheels and a new motor.

In the spirit of the race I will not disclose what size, design, spec they will be.

I might have a car that qualifies. Will confirm today.

Thanks for the invite.

Shotgun Resin body. Brass chassis. PG Tires. Motor is MT-1. It will be slower than others but just for the fun of it right?
