S.C.O.T.Y. Awards!

Another year has passed in our great 1/32nd Scale home racing hobby and with it comes our annual picks for the best toys it has to offer. These awards are mainly directed at 1/32nd scale, but we also included awards in other areas. From all new models to tools and parts, we try to let you know what the hottest brands are and where you can find them.

So who were the top choices this year? READ ON!

Manufacturer Of The Year

Carrera wins this award hands down AGAIN. Another year and another award and it is well earned. There is still no other slot car company that offers so much for so little to the home racing enthusiast. And not only in analog 1/32nd scale either. From the huge following of their digital system to the increased model selection in 1/24th scale, Carrera simply leads the way.

Some highlights of this past year!

Not only do they have the lowest price point, but the quality of the models have increased. Something we cannot say about any other company.

Congratulations Carrera!

SLOT CAR OF THE YEAR!

Having Slot.it produce this model was one of the biggest releases in our hobby. When you combine the great quality of Slot.it with a equally great series like Can-Am what else could we expect? This model runs like you would expect from Slot.it and looks fantastic. Easily our favorite new release this year.

Runner-Up: Scalextric Trans-Am Models

By just making it before Christmas the Cougar and Challenger cars have been a huge success. Many of us have waited for new models in this popular series and Scalextric delivered as promised. Not only these models but more new liveries of old favorites to give us even more in the series. It is not every year we see this much from Scalextric and they deserve the spotlight.

Tops In Tires!

No one works harder than Paul Gage. He has created a great number of new molds and more are always in the works. And not just 1/32, but 1/24 and a host of custom made sizes for just about any slot car project. All of that plus his great customer service makes him #1 to many enthusiasts.

Best Wheels!

Without a doubt, the quality wheels made by C.B. Design are #1. Not only are they made to the highest standards, but the release of the size 14 wheel adds even more to the line up. Combine this with outstanding customer service and Slot Car Corner gets the checkered flag easily.

Second year in a row for Mark at M/T Racing. Great after-market motors that fill the void left behind by major manufactures for scale/classic racing. Great service and fair prices make this an easy choice.

The great quality, selection, and attention to detail keep this maker on top. From Trans-Am to Can-Am they offer a lot for the home racing hobbyist and for a fair price. The customer service level is also second to none.

This is still the most often requested tool for your slot car bench. It has saved quite a few wheels in it's day and the customer service is first rate.

Even more models added again this year that really spiced up the line. This scale, along with the digital aspect has grown a great deal this past year and you can thank Carrera for it.

Once again H&R takes the top spot. With all new wheels and tire options this brand continues to get better and better every year. Easy enough on most budgets and also easy to modify. Still the chassis platform of choice for all of our 1/24 racing here as well as other home racing clubs across the country. The HAWK 18K motor has also been the motor choice for many 1/32nd scale enthusiasts, making this brand even stronger.

Our hobby had a lot of good things happening this year, but also a tragedy. We lost a great contributor to our hobby when the founder of NSR, Salvatore Noviello, was taken from us in an accident. His vision of the hobby brought the competition racer some of the best running models we have ever seen. His efforts are enjoyed by many and his presence in our hobby will be missed.

Personal Favorites

I enjoy the classics. These models have been some of my favorites in this hobby and this past year more were released in all new paint schemes. Carrera released two more race livery Cobras and one great looking Cheetah. So within one full year they really brought a great variety to our classic series.

The changes Slot.it made to the IMSA Porsche is welcomed. This class is still one of the best our hobby has to offer and it just gets better every year. I am glad this series is still with us as more newcomers get the chance to enjoy them as we have for years.

Finally the Carrera classic NASCAR series had another entry. This is by far one of the most popular series they have created and we were really excited to see it continue. This is the kind of series many newcomers can enjoy and having new models available helps them get started at home or in a local club.

Well it has been another great line up of winners. All of them listed above have been doing great things for us in our great hobby. Make sure you let them know you appreciate what they do when you can. It means more than you might think!

Remember that these are OUR picks.

YOU have your own favorites and we want you to let us know.
